Pole "R" Album Review

Oh, god, I'm grooving in my living room...
in front of burly men who are refurbishing this leaking condo I live in. These are men who do not understand why I am grooving because they are afraid to groove.
Pole has finally released their Raum works, that were only otherwise available on 12 inch records, whatever those are. Good god, why would anyone not want this album?? Burnt Friedman is on it, for one thing, and his busy fingers have made one hell of a remix.
Can I explain, with my own limited vocab, the gentle starlit manger of sweet sounds, the religious whipsmart of the Raum tracks? Pole has made a deified funk record, full of angelic, white melodies. Like clouds upon which pretty women eat cream cheese. Like the soul kiss of a clickhop virginal birth.
With so many records competeting for the title of MVP, for our ears and minds, Pole is on the list of folkloric heroes, the kind of Zeus-like funk storm that will get you kicking up your slippers in front of men who stare at you with eyeballs that should be working on tearing apart my roof and covering my entire window with white tarpaulin...

Derrick May "Innovator" Album Review

Excellent CD for those who don't know the history
This CD compilation is a very nice to own item for those who didn't collect 12inch versions of the Transmat releases, and also for those who want a more compact and mobile way of hearing the sound of detroit,The guys from detroit ar very innovative and set something in motion good that has long been distorted and mis-interpreted, so stuff like this sets the record straight, as for the reviewer "lawrence" negative comment below, I believe his distaste for the sound stems from the results of being exposed to the distorted version of techno, your mind has to be open and take into consideration that these were tracks produced over 20 years ago by three young black teens with not much money at all but a lot of heart, soul, and vision, not some rich kids with a lot of tech gear but no funk, and detroit techno is special because it has that flavor.
